Sergey and Larry can skate, also GPhone released (meh)

Google launched some big product yesterday in New York (see every other blog for details). Personally, I was expecting Sergey and Larry to appear in C-3PO and R2D2 outfits (respectively) but instead they made a surprise appearance in roller skates (see picture above).
Sergey also talked about an app he’d made for the GPhone (that’s the aforementioned product they launched). The app calculated how far the phone travelled when you threw it in the air, using all-the-rage accelerometer hardware. Unfortunately the app won’t be shipping with the phone. Shame.
Any explanations welcome as to why S & L did a Dick Van Dyke yesterday. It seemingly had nothing to do with what they were announcing. Perhaps they were just on the last minute?
